Dark, handsome, and dashing, Hamish Wyllie has become one of the biggest names in entertainment in Indonesia over the last few years. This meteoric rise will come as no surprise to those who know him. Immensely popular among his friends for his fearlessness and sense of humor, Hamish accidently fell into acting a few years back, feeling it was something he should try given the opportunities that arose around him. His day job at the time was running SAKA Design, a design and architectural consultancy based in Bali that he founded with two friends. SAKA was the sister company to Tarita, the immense family furniture business that his mother and step-father founded three decades prior. With SAKA, Hamish evolved the family’s business from just producing designs to actually consulting and constructing structures and spaces in Bali and Yogyakarta. His years living in Bali, as well as having renowned surfer David Wyllie for a father, made him a de facto surfer boy with a pedigree that includes catching his first wave at three years old. Now based in Jakarta, Hamish does not have that much time to ride waves, but if you ever see him in the water, you can tell that that’s where he most feels at home. It makes sense then that he recently teamed up with Conservation.org to start an awareness campaign for sea turtles and ocean conservation. Hamish is now also working with the UN to raise awareness on animal-related issues and standing for the Sun Bear.
