In the Spirit of Collaboration
Great drinks, art, and a good cause come together in one night for the Giffard x SATI Charity Event: Spirit of Art, Tattooed Bartenders hosted by Giffard and The Bar Awards.
February 15, 2018
There is no denying that Bangkok is super hot right now, there is quite frankly (without being biased at all) no other capital city in Southeast Asia that has as heady a mix of great food, drinks and culture. To make that already exciting playing field even better there are non-profits working in the city to make that landscape better, attempting to make a positive impact on some of the problems that face our city. Sati is one such non-profit that over the years has evolved to become a truly collaborative platform engaging with the various creative communities in Bangkok to raise attention to their cause and further their mission with alternative ways of fund raising. Sati’s mission is to improve health care and education for underserved youths in Thailand, and funds raised are used to support projects that support those objectives. As for the food and drink scene - there are all the amazing chefs and bartenders that are here in Bangkok. The Bar Awards 2018 that start on Wednesday 21st February celebrates the latter, the bartenders of Bangkok and of Asia. Their mission is to bring people together to celebrate achievement and excellence within the bar community (and to get a little drunk) and aims to be the most influenctial bar awarding body in Asia.
As part of The Bar Awards Week, Giffard together with The Bar Awards and Sati will be hosting a special event on Thursday February 22nd at Eat Me Restaurant and Bar. In December 2017, Giffard brought us the Spirit of Art: Bangkok Tattooed Bartender series, an intimate and contemporary look at bartending culture through the bartenders’ passion for tattooes. At the event, the Bangkok Tattooed Bartenders Series of portraits will be shown at Eat Me alongside special shifts by some of Bangkok’s Tattooed Bartenders, namely Cha Cha from Rabbit Hole, Joey from Tropic City, Ann Pinsuda from Bamboo Bar and Carson from Iron Balls plus another special guest bartender shift. The Bar Awards brings guest bartenders from the best bars in Asia, so the special guest at Eat Me will be no exception. To add extra voltage to the night, Tattoo Artist, Black Tongue will be giving tattoes at the event from 9pm-12am. It will be 1000 THB per Tattoo from a special design portfolio she has created for the night. We heard a rumour that first hour is perhaps free? But even if not, all proceeds from the tattoes will be donated to Sati.
And at 250 Baht per cocktail all night with all profits going to Sati from the tattoes and the cocktails? Getting inked and getting tipsy never sounded and IS so good!
We shall see you there!
